I’ve noticed a problem with the search function at my page.

The Search Page looks normal.  But it’s when I try to view the entries that it’s found via a search for something that I have the problem. The links in the search results link to the search page and not the entires themselves.

Search for care   and see what I mean.

Anyone what could have caused that? I did recently upgraded from 1.0 to 1.1.  I just can’t think of why it would have messed with the search function.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like you need to adapt the path in the results template.  I use the following:

{exp:search:search_results switch=“resultRowOne|resultRowTwo”}

<h4><a href=”{auto_path}”>{title}</a></h4>
<p>
{exp:word_limit total=“25”}
{excerpt}
{/exp:word_limit} (<em>{entry_date format=”%m/%d/%y”}</em>)
</p>

{/exp:search:search_results}

where {auto_path} specifies the file path, and this generates the primary url. Otherwise you could also specify a specific template group and template like blog/article

Look under Admin > Weblog Management.  There is a “Search Results URL” setting, which is where you specify where you want the links on the results page to point.  My guess is that you have that set to the results page right now.  Instead, try changing it to something like your comments Template or wherever you want the links pointing.

I understand the “Search Results URL” setting in the cpanel - this assumes all my articles/posts are in one place (weblog). What about results that are in different weblogs (sections)? Is there a way to pass the URL a variable, so my search results for articles in my “education” blog get linked to the proper section? URL segments perhaps?

Check this out to see what I’m angling at.

Each weblog has it’s own “Search Results URL” preference so simply set the appropriate one for each weblog.  I guess I’m not seeing what isn’t working there for you.

Ah, yes - I see what’s confusing. This goes more to overall site design than paths - I had one blog with multiple template groups (for each of my site sections), for which I cannot (apparently) have multiple search result destinations.

The implication I draw from your statement is that my site sections should be individual blogs, rather than just template groups [in 1 blog]. That’s fine, I suppose; but then how can I embed global templates across blogs? I suppose I could just fall back on PHP includes for stuff like that.
