* Tweaked layout of Weblogs page.

Thanks everyone for the support and suggestions. Version 1.1.0 features oodles of improvements—here are the highlights:

* “Quick links” to edit everything; Template Groups, Template, Weblogs, Categories, Statuses, Weblog Fields, File Upload Preferences, you name it. It’s all one click away.
* Automatically checks for updates via a new extension (requires that you have the LG Addon Updater extension installed).
* Weblog fields now display the field ID, and field formatting information.
* Non-standard field types are now handled more gracefully (thanks to slapshotw for drawing my attention to this).

Oh yes, and the hidden Mac OSX files have now been removed from the ZIP file (sorry about that). Head on over to my site to grab the download, read the documentation, and peruse the full change log.

—-

Hello all,

A couple of days ago, whilst digging through the Control Panel of an old site hunting for the short names of custom weblog fields, I finally cracked.

“There must be an easier way!” I whimpered, to nobody in particular.

Well, now there is.

SL Developer Info collects all the information you’re likely to need when creating ExpressionEngine templates, and displays it in one location. Weblog categories, statuses and custom fields, Template information, even File Upload Preferences.

Simply open SL Developer Info, and it’s all there waiting for you.

Head on over to the Resources section of my site to read the full documentation, and download the module.

If you have any questions or problems, just post them to this thread and I’ll do my best to answer them.

Cheers,
Stephen

Hi Stephen,

This looks great thanks! I think this along with the BN Add Custom Field short_name are going to be really helpful. I already use that other extension but your module will be really helpful too.

Best wishes,

Mark

You’re welcome Mark, and thanks for the link to the BN Short Name extension, I hadn’t seen that before.

Cheers,
Stephen

Looks great, Stephen. I added this to devot:ee. I hope that shortly, developers will see the benefit in notifying devot:ee when a new add-on comes out. It will beat the living pants off the Wiki.

This is really helpful. Thank you. If doable, adding the entry IDs for the fields would be pretty useful too—for those of us who need to set up SAEFs. I think pi_pur_developer had this, but I never liked the implementation.

Thanks Ryan, and hint taken regarding devot:ee wink

Good point Kyle, I’ll sort it out and release an update in the next couple of days. Which reminds me, I should also implement LG Addon Updater…

Great job Stephen!

I’ll be adding this as part of my standard EE install or as we like to say in Australia, “This is going straight to the pool room!”.

It’s very nice indeed. If you are looking for feature requests, not merely displaying info (PHP Enabled? Caching Enabled?) but actually allowing to change it (or link to the right spot in the CP) would be the icing on the cake.

Thanks everyone for the comments, I’m glad you’re finding it useful…

Excellent, I like the sound of that :D

Interesting idea, thanks Ingmar. The green button in the top-right of the page links to the relevant area in the CP, but I agree that it could be very useful to link directly to a specific item, particularly in the case of custom fields.

I’ll look into sorting this out for the next release (hopefully in the next couple of days). I’ll probably leave the direct editing of properties until I’ve ironed out the remaining few minor niggles.

Cheers,
Stephen

Hi, Stephen. Just a very gentle reminder… your download contains mac specific artifacts that aren’t useful/wanted by Windows users.

Any chance of repackaging it without these?

Realises this probably applies to all my addons. Panics slightly.

Sorry Sue (and other Windows users), I’ll sort this out ASAP, hopefully this evening.

Cheers,
Stephen

Hello all,

Quicker than anticipated (for once), version 1.1.0 is available for your downloading pleasure.

I’ve updated the opening message of this thread with details of the new version; suffice to say it’s worth upgrading.

Once again, thanks to everyone for their suggestions, they’ve resulted in a much improved module.

Let me know how you get on.

Cheers,
Stephen
