As of this week ExpressionEngine 2.0 has achieved “feature lockdown,” meaning its highly unlikely anything new will be added to the initial release at this point.
Waiting with baited breath (I’ve brushed my teeth though I promise ) for the next update.
I keep on getting e-mails from users on here asking me when 2.0 is coming out, quite annoying (the people e-mailing me directly I mean). I’m not an Almanac you know
The jQuery Module does sound very interesting. I just really really need to get up to speed with Javascript as I’m a little way behind everyone at the moment unfortunately. For some reason the Javascript language just doesn’t want to stick in my noggin!
Appreciate the update though. Can’t wait for the next one.
Being able to use different versions of jquery might be useful - I saw somewhere that a plugin was broken with the new release (sorry can’t remember link) - not an issue for me personally, but could be.
It wouldn’t be fair. Mark knows when it’s going to release.
Well if that’s true I wish I could remember!
I promise you I don’t know but if one of the dev team wants to tell me I promise I won’t blab I’m also an amateur magician so very good at keeping secrets
My guess, April 15th. A bad news (taxes) and good news (2.0) date…And just knowing how the EE crew likes to do things like that. Oh, that’s right, Paul’s no longer there so never mind
Nobody gave the old standard answer. “It will come out when it’s good a ready” LOL!
I myself was going to rewrite the code base for EE and then I remembered I really have no clue when it comes to programming. The best version I can do is 1.6.6.0.0.0.0.0.1, who wants it:)
Keep the updates coming and thanks for keeping us in dah loop!

The jQuery module will allow people to use jQuery and its plugins in their templates without worrying about the location of the jQuery files. This way developers have access to jQuery in a secure way from just about anywhere in EE’s template engine.
Sorry, I must be missing something. What’s the point of this?
I can access jQuery just fine right now using EE templates without worrying about the location of the jQuery files (I use a global variable to point to them from the end of the web page). Why do I need a module for this? What are the possible advantages to me? Or is the advantage related to the jQuery functionality in the EE 2.0 back-end (admin panel)?
I believe the point is focused more towards developers that want to use jQuery, not necessarily the designer building the website.
However, in my opinion I think they decided to make it available for the templates just to take EE one more step towards the one stop shop setup. One less thing to do on an EE install is time I can spend working on the site. This is going along with the blog entry derek had a while ago: http://expressionengine.com/blog/entry/a_present_for_your_friday/
