Database connection problems

I keep getting the error:
<i>Unable to select the database</i>

I know I’m using the correct database name and password. I’ve tried both localhost and the ip address. My host supports persistant connections as well.

What gives?

Basically, if you have the correct settings it will work. Are you sure you have the correct database user specified? Does the database user have access/permissions to the database you’re specifying?
