Hey,

OK, I’ve been doing some intensive work on my site, so I’ve accumulated a few questions.  For the sake of keeping things straight, I’m going to post them separately.

First of all, I’ve just begun to use adsense on my site.  It displays fine, and the links work and everything, and it’s all completely hunky dory in IE, but in Firefox, there’s some javascript weirdness.

If you scroll down my page until you can see the adsense box in the right content bar, it all looks fine.  But if you run your pointer over the links in the left hand nav box (the categories, recent posts, etc) or indeed over any links on the page, the whole box appears again immediately to the left of where it should be for a second.  It seems like it’s only doing this in FireFox 1.0, as far as I can tell, but since that’s the browser I use, it’s kind of irritating.  I realize it’s probably a javascript issue, rather than an EE issue per se, as the syndicated moon phase box in the upprer left hand corner of the site has a similar formatting issue in firefox when the mouse moves over it, but I am still hoping that someone will be able to help me fix it!

Thanks,

Matthew

I remember a report of behavior like this before (I don’t think it was AdSense-related) and I want to say it had something to do with iFrames.  However, I don’t see any of those on your site, so I’m not sure.

There’s definitely been a report of similar behavior here in the forums, so I’d encourage you to do some searching.  I haven’t a clue if it was an EE or pM report, what the title might have been, or really anything else useful, but I know it’s come up previously.

I searched the whole forum (pmachine and ee) for “adsense” and didn’t see anyone else talking about this specific problem.  No, I don’t use iframes…

No idea?

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.  You all rock!!

Well, as I said, I don’t think the previously-reported behavior had anything to do with adsense, so I’m not surprised you didn’t find anything with that search.

It took me a fair bit of searching, but I found the previous mention of this.  Also, I should be clear (since I didn’t mention it earlier) that I didn’t experience the behavior when I viewed your site earlier using Firefox 1.0 on OS X.  I was going entirely on your description of the behavior, so it’s possible I have a mistaken understanding of what’s going on.

Midnighthowl, I see the strobing using the Windows version of Firefox 1.0.

One thing I noticed, your right nav is too narrow for your adsense stuff, it kind of hangs over. Not sure about the moon phases, though.

Owl:

Adsense uses iFrames to present the text ads, so it is probably related, so you are using iFrames, albeit unintentionally :(

I had the problem too, until I wrapped the google code in a DIV that was slightly bigger than the ad ...

Hope this helps
