Hi,
I am in the process of selecting a CMS for my current employer and I have some requirements that I haven’t been able to find out whether or not are possible with EE.

The requirements are below:

Restricted areas - i need to be able to create restricted areas for certain pages, posts, media etc.

Profile management - users of our site need to be able to register (to access to the restricted areas) and then manage things like there password, email address and mailing preferences.

Unique title tags and meta tags - for SEO purposes I need to be able to create unique title tags and meta tags for each page within the site.

Feature content - i need the ability to feature news items, events and articles on the homepage of the site.

Remember user login - i want to remember user login on the site i.e. Welcome back John.

Media Campaigns - we run a variety of on-line banner campaigns and I would like to track referrals to the site from specific banners.

Contact Forms - when a contact form is submitted I need it to be stored in a database as-well as emailed. I also need to allow users to upload an attachment and have that stored in the database.

EE has met all my other requirements I just need confirm that it can do the above.

Thanks in advance
Gary

Greetings, Gary - welcome to the forums!

Restricted Areas

Yes, you can handle this in a variety of ways:

1. You can restrict an entire template by member group
2. You can use conditionals in your templates to restrict portions of what is seen to whatever members you wish, my group or member specifically.

Profile Management

Sure possible.  see your Control Panel on our site for how this works.

Unique title tags and meta tags

Entirely doable out of the box.  Check out my series on EE and Search Engine Optimization

Feature content

No problem.  You control exactly what is displayed, where it is displayed, why and when.  You can use statuses, custom fields, and categories to help identify what you want on your homepage.

Remember user login

Available out of the box, when you login to our site, for instance, you’ll see a Remember me checkbox.  You can set up the template to output the logged in user’s info for a welcome back message.

Media Campaigns

Many people use software like OpenAds with ExpressionEngine.  Alternatively, you could build your own custom module for this, using our Development API.

Contact Forms

The email module included when you purchase ExpressionEngine can help you with contact forms.  There is also FreeForm from Solspace if you need something a bit more robust.

How about Trying out EE? =)
