The fact that EE automatically makes a <p> out of a double line break when publishing entries messes up my design. I need to have <p> margin = 0 px in my CSS to make some elements look good, but on the other hand, that makes my text look to compact.

Can I somehow make EE put in two <br /> at double line breaks inside entries, instead of <p>?

Hi - give this plugin a try. It’s actually for cleaning tinymce code, but it does remove empty <p></p> tags so it might just do the trick for you.

Just set the formatting dropdown on the entry page to ‘Auto BR’ instead of XHTML

The plugin didn’t help me at all, it didn’t produce any difference to my current render. Changing to ‘Auto BR’ will make any tag in the text useless, right? In any event, I have quite a lot of entris that are already published, so that doesn’t seem very plausible.

I guess I could make a special class of <p> for the place where the padding gets messed up, right?

In these cases I usually try to apply the formatting rule to the containing element in the CSS - so the p tag can be used unmodified.

Or do you need two variations of the p tag within the same container?

You can also use CSS to format a specific section of <p> and not another section.
