When I create a .tpl for use in my template library then trying to create a new template based on it, all I get is a blank file. I use mostly global template variables in my .tpl files, would that make a difference? Is there something I’m doing wrong?

Do you mean, you create a template and then you choose “New Template” and then “Duplicate an existing template” and your new template is empty?

Happens to me all the time because I (and probably you, too) just select the template to copy from the dropdown list but forget to check the radio-box to the left which defaults to   “None - create an empty template” ...

Some Javascript-onChange in the SELECT-element to activate the corresponding radio-field would be a nice feature on this page

Well not quite… I am literally choosing the template library option and when I click submit, it doesn’t give me what I put in my text/php file (.tpl), it gives me a blank template as a result.

Are you sure xou checked the radio-field to the left?

I’ll check into that and make sure.

Still doesn’t work, I doubled checked everything and I still get a blank template. FYI, I’m not duplicating an existing layout. I am using the template library feature of ExpressionEngine (and exactly as the documentation instructs as well). Ugh, I neeed help. Anyone else dealt with this?

Seems like this topic was never resolved.  I am having what appears to be the same problem.

I’m running v1.6.4 build 20080626.

I have created a .tpl file and set the global template settings to point to system/templates/ but there is no template library drop-down when I select create new template and click the radio button for use template from library.

I am following the example exactly as presented in the documents.

Is this broken or am I doing something wrong?

For some reason, after I closed my browser and reopened it, this feature is now working for me.
