Hi,

I totally removed my previous installation and decided to reinstall EE 1.6.4. The wizard prep check says everything is fine and ready. All file and directory permissions are correct. When I run install.php, I get this error:

Error: Unable to perform the SQL queries needed to install this program. Please make sure your MySQL account has the proper GRANT privileges: CREATE, DROP, ALTER, INSERT, and DELETE

I read in a previous thread that the my.ini file needs to be modified. I do not see it on my server. I will say that my db name prefix is:

mattbinkowski_com_-_

Could that be part of the error? I cannot change that portion of the db name because it’s preset by my host, mediatemple.

Please help!

Thanks,
Matt

I’m actually using the Shared Server product they’ve discontinued.

Should be fine on shared hosting.  Hm- using the wizard, can you connect to the db using the same settings you’re entering in the install script?

No. The first page of the wizard seems fine. The second page throws the “unable to select the database” error.

I used to have 1.6.2 running fine but I decided to delete that installation and its associated database. So, I’m really starting from scratch trying to install 1.6.4.

I suspect you may have had the db name wrong.  We can use the wizard to do some testing- it’s easier and simpler than the install script.  Have you created a new db and tried the wizard with that?

Robin,

I cannot create the db via phpMyAdmin. I can only create through my mediatemple webcontrol panel.

When I create a new db, the pre-assigned prefix is “mattbinkowski_-_”.

So, the new db i created was called “testdb” with the full display name for the db as “mattbinkowski_com_-_testdb”

What is our next step?

Matt

OK- let me double check those characters don’t jam you up.  Shouldn’t, as plenty of folks on MT are using EE.

While I do- try connecting via the server wizard- and read over this MT kblog entry.  Seems to do a good job of laying out everything.

Let me know if the wizard can connect.
