Does anyone have EE tag code snippets plugged into an IDE type of setup for creating templates?
I’m thinking adding EE as a library to Aptana Studio might be darn handy.
How many snippets would there be that are used pretty much in every site’s creation, are the old cheat sheets pretty much inclusive?

(Copy Paste code EE tags should work), really it is an eclipse plug-in then.
It might have possibilities, just a thought.

Hey cool thanks analog, I was about to say it would just be creating auto-completes for the cheatsheet maybe?
I saw a request over on the Ci board for something similar for code igniter, he got a sort of ho-hum response.
Creating these things are never as easy as they sound.

Maybe if this Eclipse plugin Afae that plugs into Aptana would import textmate plugins, it’ld work, doesn’t say it would do that though, just says it’s like textmate in Eclipse.
The homepage for Afae says it works with metaweblog, I had wondered about using metaweblog to save code, I know there’s the save templates as text option, not sure how the two would stack up. hmmm…

This is not going to be of much help to you now, but I use Visual Web Developer Express 2008 when coding my web pages because the code-completion and code-folding support are excellent.  I haven’t quite figured it out yet, but one can make their own Document Object Model (DOM - hope I got the acronym right) and schema for this software; for me this means having IntelliSense for EE tags and parameters as well as the usual xHTML and CSS.  This is a good starting point, but I haven’t really delved into it just yet due to a combination of time constraints and wanting to wait until EE 2.0 comes out so I am up-to-date.  If and when I am able to make this happen I will post the results here so that anyone else in the community can use it as well.

Thanks… hey your post gave me an idea to check the firefox add-ins sections sure enough one came straight to the top:
Text Complete add-on for firefox it works within form text areas, off an xml sheet that can even be stored centrally on the web someplace, sounds promising, just now found it though.

I have the Text Complete installed, it was sort of tricky.
You have to follow a config set of instructions first, on the add-on authors homepage, then after that you type firefox in form text area field and hit the shortcut of ctrl + alt + M the the word firefox should be replaced by:
Textcomplete and all is well. N-Joy
If so then go to Tools menu | TextComplete options, and explore those have not had the chance. having to hit the shortcut isn’t quite like an ajax routine or anything, but still maybe useful, I hope.

I recall having used these during the short time with my iMac.

Typinator was a sudden favorite for me, but now, being stuck with Windows for a while, PhraseExpress is surely the way to go.
