This module badly needs a search feature for both admin and public side. As my galleries grow it becomes a lot of hassle for my viewers to find images and admins to manage the galleries.

Are there any ways to do gallery searches right now?

Editing entries has been possible since the inception of the gallery module.

i intend to say: upload an updated (edited) image file from within the control panel. i understand that for now the only way to display an edited file is to delete the entry and post a new one.

You can re-upload to an existing entry, just use the same file upload option there…. no need to delete first.

unfortunately there is no “file upload” option displayed within the gallery module once a new entry has been posted. do you see something i don’t?

all i see is this: * File Name   imagefile.jpg   If you change the file name the image will be renamed
no way to choose a file locally … and re-upload it …

as the two points i have mentioned are on the wish list of many (long-time) ee users and have been requested over and over again on the forums i really, really would want to know - will they be integrated functions in ee 2.0 - yes or no? can you find out about that, please?

The ExpressionEngine Control Panel is being redesigned with a strong focus on improved usability, greater productivity, more logical controls, and easier theming and customization. The movie at the top of the page showcases one of the default new themes and gives you an idea of the great changes taking place.  There is also a new File Manager. Please keep in mind that there is much that could not be shown yet since EE 2.0 is still under development.

As more features get finalized we will reveal some of them, although we do plan to keep some secrets until the final release!
