Finally finished my first EE Site. Wanted to make a classified listings site and although EE made it far easier than it would have been to build from scratch, I still had to fight through some minor bumps along the way. The design is not exactly where I want it to be, but it is a start. Let me know what you think…

Hi Jermaine,

Looks really nice. Minimal but does exactly what it needs to and so doesn’t need to be too flairy with too much going on. Really nice work!

Are you going to be making any income on that site at all? I noticed it said that it’s free to post so was just wondering if you get anything back when people contact the sellers at all?

No figures needed just wondering how it will self-sustain itself when it grows really big. Always interested in that kind of thing me!

Best wishes,

Mark

Thanks for the compliments and glad that you like the design. I wanted to give it some color, but keep it as simple as possible.

Hopefully I can make a little change. At the moment it will be free and I’ll collect from Adsense but if the site grows to a substantial user base I will look into monetizing it.

Nice Jermaine, it really looks the part of a major app, a solid way to gain users.
Are all the ads user generated then, is everything SAEF frontside forms or are there Control Panel Admins contributing also?
Just wondered excellent classified section.

Maybe an about us page would help users figure out who the site is target towards, and encourage them to join up and use the site. It says Atlanta on the listings pages, I thought it was something bigger at first, regional or something.

Some of the ads are user generated, some I “scrape” from other places on the web. Working on an aggressive marketing campaign as we speak. Everything is done via SAEF. Took me a while to get it to work like I wanted, but was well worth it. Even when an admin posts a listing, they do it via SAEF.

I was in the process of a homepage redesign as you posted cause several people told me the front page was confusing. Currently working on an About page, FAQ, etc. Initially I just wanted to get the core functionality working and now I will add improvements a little at time. If you get a chance, let me know what you think of the new homepage.

Jermaine,

Good job on the site. Was wondering what you used for the “Contact” forms on the listing pages?

Cheers,
Danny

jermaine-
great looking and more importantly, useful site! i like how clear it is up front what condobandit is for. i would maybe spend a little time when you catch a breather next on viewing the listings—when you first click from the homepage, it’s not apparent what the order of the data is, it’s just a bunch of listings. you can refine them on the right i see, but as you grow, it could get a little messy. but all in all, i really like what you’ve done! i’ve been tinkering (and that is the operative word) on a similar-ish site that addresses the needs of our local real estate market, and you’re giving me some inspiration to get movin’! thumbs up.
