My first venture into the EE world is now live:  Major League Soccer :: Philadelphia 2010

I must say I was intimidated by EE at first but the A HA! moment came quickly after I just started to play with all the code.  The support documentation, and especially this forum, has helped me greatly and I am deeply appreciative.

The site is only scratching the surface of what we can do with EE but we’ll be adding more and more features as time goes on.  Any feedback you have is welcomed.

Enjoy,

Matt

Congrats on the site! I felt the same way about EE until I took some serious time into a few tutorials. Heck, even the documentation was rough for a bit, until it all cleared. Now, I honestly wonder how I did without EE before.

That’s a solid first client mate.. Good job!

There’s more than one way to make the Majors!
Nice work, packed with features, a solid first attempt, sounds like a “hat-trick” to me, no wait that’s hockey, hmmm…

I like the changing banner at the top, have forwarded it to a friend who’s from Philly. Really nice first site.

The only problem that I can see is that it’s called Football not Soccer damnit LOL

Congrats! I’m sure this site will popular as the event gets closer. Care to share any stumbling blocks or tricks you learned along the way?

Thanks for the compliments and feedback everyone!

@Ryan:  Honestly, just getting started was my biggest stumbling block.  I wasn’t accustomed to hand coding my sites at all.  I was a Dreamweaver guy and only tooled with the code when I needed to.  Working with EE is a completely different experience from a coding perspective and now that I’ve worked with it, I’ll never go back.  I’m still learning how all the modules, tags, etc. all work so I’m sure I’ll hit some other stumbling blocks along the way but for the most part getting over the intimidation factor of moving the entire, static site over to EE and chunking it out was it.

The site is for a future team that will begin play in 2010, isn’t it?
I can see how it might be thought that this is for a tournament or something, much like the 2008 All-Star ballot is for an event. Just thought I’ld check?
