I am not sure if this has been suggested but here goes…

I notice that I create the same webogs, field groups and categories over and over again. An example would be staff page weblogs. They all seem to include Name, title, first name, bio, photo, email address, phone number.

I would love to see a weblog preferences, field group, category group, status all be able to be exported into one neat package. If this were done then it would enable developers to save their weblog setup and store and reuse. It would also enable developers to share their setups with other developers in a outlet much like the plugins, extensions and modules area of Expression Engine. Call it the weblog area.

This would be great, I hope I’m not overlooking something but I too have several field groups I’ll want to reuse.

I fourth it!

I too have been wondering about the best way to reuse stuff.

Would it be possible to make a ‘Master Site’ on a development machine. Each time a new weblog stucture is needed, it is created on the master site.

Then each time a new site is setup, migrate the ‘master site’ db info in via phpmyadmin to the new site and delete the unwanted weblogs etc.. (I’m not really sure how feasible this is?)

Not ideal I know but may be quicker then setting up the custom fields etc over and over again.

I’m new to EE so not even sure how possible this is?

@wuwongy - that’s what I was thinking about doing too…seems to be the best way.

Does anyone have any “best practices” to add to this? (Sorry Mike B re: “best practices”)
