Would anybody be so kind to make a plugin, that will calculate the sign of the zodiac (also in chinese astrology) from the birthdate of a member.

It would be great if the plugin allowed translating the signs in different languages.

How about more info? I can make one of these pretty easily, but what do you want the plugin to do?

In other words, once I determine which zodiac sign, then what do you want it to do with that information?

It’s sort of like determining which season it is. I need to do one of those plugins to display a different style sheet or header.

I haven’t implemented a lang. file for a plugin yet, but I know where I can get one to “borrow” from.

I would use this, I love the idea.  If *I* used it I’d want to do two things.

One: I’d like to display it in the public member profile - as an image.  It’d be neat if I could get a word variable too in case I can find a site to link to for dynamic horoscopes. =) (not your probably but the word variable could help, and could be used for the image for that matter)

Two:  I’d love to display this next to the entry_date.  So it would show the horoscope graphic of my choice next to the entry_date.  Now this is totally seperate functionality than what MF requested but I couldn’t help it.

I wish I could code php, with only 3 days til school starts it’s just not gonna happen though.

Sue, I’m guessing that he simply wants a plugin that will calculate the zodiac sign of a member based on he/her birth date.

Another question, couldn’t you add an extra drop-down menu field to the member profile and allow the members to choose the sign that applies to them?

You could but they shouldn’t have to since it really is just a calculated value… =)

I would like to document the sign of a member with an image and text too (maybe later searching based in the sign field?).

Many members might not even know their chinese sign. So I would show them this too.

Any usage you would think would be cool?

So you can change the header to a christmas design when the season approaches, or you can change the header for valentinsday when it approches etc.

At one point I changed my design based on the month.

I looked at the current date, grabbed the month value and included a style sheet based on the month name.

Sorta like skinning.
