@Mark - thanks for that link to TimeScroller.  I’d been using four instances of the World Clock widget up to this point, which has a few quirks in addition to occupying four footprints worth of memory.  Small hack I added to TimeScroller so it will not display seconds for the topmost time:

No problem. Came across it some time back whilst my wife was away Helicopter training in L.A. and needed to find out when we would both be awake.

I’ve done that before on a few widgets. I had a great one for checking e-mail accounts as I didn’t want to leave Mail on in the background whilst working and the widget only had values of 5 minutes, 10 minutes and 20 if I remember correctly for it to check for new mail. Well I went into the widget and changed it so I had a couple of other extra options of 1,2 and 3 minutes!

Really excellent that they are just html files and javascript so pretty easy to make them yourself for certain things.

Just got the wife a new iMac (3.06 GHz with the 24” screen) and have been setting it up for her this weekend. That new “Mighty” mouse that came with it has me considering a mouse upgrade for my desk. Its pretty cool having all those extra options, although I don’t like the way it double clicks; can’t say why, just seems funny. Bet I could get use to it, but the track ball on top was just too cool.

I still like my MX Revolution better than the Mighty Mouse.  I gave the latter to my sister when I got my new iMac last week.

Yep the Mighty Mouse definitely has something not quite right about the feel of it. I bought one right when they first came out (not the IR version as the battery life in them is appalling) but could never quite get used to it. Nowadays I am using my MacBook Pro for everything anyway so just prefer the trackpad. I’m also pretty old school when it comes to Macs and have always been a massive believer in using keystrokes A LOT!! so extra buttons to me is just not the way to go (that’s just me though). I think it stems from having used Macs from ever since they first came out and just getting used to that way of working. I find I am around 10 times quicker than most other people who do use all these productivity add-ons just because I know my way around the system so well. The one thing that I do use a lot though nowadays is Quicksilver. I don’t really know how I could live without that one!! The Mighty Mouse has been relegated to working upstairs on our older G4 for our music studio now

We actually have a Digital marketing blog, but use a service called Nourish (nouri.sh) to push the RSS feed out in email form to people, and the open rate is quite good. (around 25%)

I’m part of a large group—several hundred people—and we’re having a speaker come to Seattle to address us. Our problem is that a significant portion of us live in outlying areas, which makes it difficult or unaffordable for many people to travel to Seattle.

The meeting is going to be held in a small auditorium at a local university, so there are communication links available, and enough tech-savvy people involved to operate systems and software.

What we’re lacking—and I guess $4-a-gallon gasoline got us seriously thinking about it—is a way to create a virtual connection between the Seattle conference hall and the phone or computer of want-to-be participants at home.

Does anyone know of any solutions/services/ideas that would help us address this need?

We recently helped produce an 1.5 hour long presentation that had a live audience and used a company called On24 (on24.com) to broadcast the event over the web using On24’s servers. We also videotaped and rebroadcast the event afterward for those who couldn’t attend the intial event. It was successful enough that they’re doing it again.
