Site partially fails after 1.6.2 -> 1.6.3 update

The update process completed normally with the optimize tables step. I copied the new index.php over as instructed and deleted the updates folder and file.

The CP displays 1.6.3.

The home page, pages that list categories and single articles (in a “more” template, as in “read more”) appear normally.

But instead of content in our “inside” template—that is, all the posts in a given category—the site is redirecting to the error template.

So for example, a link like this:

http://www.mysite.org/index.php/mytplgroup/inside/C18

instead of showing all the posts in Category 18, is showing:

http://www.mysite.org/index.php/mytplgroup/errortpl/

The “inside” template was never touched before, during or after the update.

I backed up the database before updating and all our posts appear in the CP.

I have never seen this behavior before. Help.

Part of the problem is that you disabled categories, but you’re making a category call.

I’ll change it and see if that fixes things.

Problem located: The 1.6.3 latest build changed the require_entry behavior. We had this parameter in our template where it may not have been appropriate. Thank you for your help Sue.
