This site is deliberately simple. I’d almost go so far as to call it “done,” but I know this is never actually possible.

I am looking for a better name, will eventually get better logos going, and may add a mailing list at some point, but other than that I think I am done (no, really).

Let me know what you think, and if you have a better name, PM it to me. postalmoneky is already taken (sadly).

This is my second of the 4 sites I run that I have redesigned since purchasing MSM.

Well, I have 130 letters out, have about 30 responses so far, and am averaging about 4 written letters a day. I love the “future” entries option in EE. I sit down and knock a week’s worth of posts (or more) out in a few hours. I could die tomorrow and the site will continue to update for at least a month.

Not that I want to die tomorrow or anything.

Glad you liked it.

Christopher, this site is great. My wife found it pretty funny too.

Wow, that’s Leslie, Kurt, Kurt’s wife, my girlfriend (surprisingly I do have one), and a distant cousin I can count as new fans this week! Although I suspect my girlfriend is humoring me I’m still counting her. So that’s 5 new fans, bringing my total to 5 all time fans!

Glad you liked it.

I’m still looking for a better name. Originally I had asking4stuff.com as my domain (and it still points to the site), and I was going to literally just write companies and ask for things. You know like, “Dear Dodge Magnum, please send me a free Dodge Magnum. If you do, I’ll write about how cool you are on my website asking4stuff.com, and drive the crap out of that car!” or, “Dear ExpressionEngine, please send me a free prelease Commercial ExpressionEngine 2.0 license. I know I’ll probably never make a dime off any of my sites, and won’t ever touch the surface of what EE can do, but I like to pretend I am cool, I just lack the money to really do this (which is why I don’t have a Dodge Magnum),” or “Mr. Gates, I hope you can send me a free copy of Windows Vista, even though I only use Macs, and have no need for Vista, but I am pretty sure no one else wants Vista, so am guessing you have a few laying about.”

But as soon as I sat down to write the first article, I knew I had something more/different to do.

EE made the whole name change thing amazingly easy. A few field changes, a search and replace, and in 5 minutes, a totally rebranded site. Still don’t like the current name, but am confident once I find on that works, the entire content will be switched over in like 5 minutes.

Oh, and if you will, try to give me a day or two notice before you feature/showcase my site.

I’ve made a lot of adjustments, so it’s coming along well. I have dynamic meta data, titles, and headers that match the post title. I also made a google sitemap page, but so far it doesn’t seem to be increasing traffic. I have a limited RSS feed (am considering making it a full feed).

I added ads, but think I will take them back off. They seem cluttery and honestly, don’t see them making me enough to make them worth it.

And I am up to almost 60 posts in the main letters blog!

Not sure what else I should do. So, suggestions anyone?

I think the ads are fine. They aren’t intrusive at all, and I honestly wouldn’t have paid them any attention if you hadn’t mentioned them (that may or may not be a good thing:)

I might suggest changing the page titles a little bit. IE: rather than just Snickers, you could do something like Snickers new candy bar needs ephedrine.

I’d like to see what searches would bring that one up:)
