URL Processing Question

New to EE and I have searched the docs, but need some help.

How do I turn:

http://www.example.com/index.php?/news?/hello/

into:

http://www.example.com/index.php?/news/hello/

Notice the second “?” in the first URL. The URL above is being generated using {auto_path} on a search results page. Also, for some reason, I cannot remove the ? from index.php? and have had to set Force URL Query Strings to On in the CP Output and Debugging area just to get the URLs to work.

Thanks—Glen

Glen,

Check out this wiki article on a workaround for forced query strings.

As for the other part, I have not run into that on servers I have to force query strings for putting the “?” after the template group name in.

Can you post the basic {exp:weblog:entries} code you are using to call the {auto_path}, and hopefully people can give you a hand.

Kindest Regards,

-greg

Thanks for your suggestions. For more info, my server is OakParkSolutions, a variant of GoDaddy I believe. I have Linux hosting using PHP4.3 on an Apache 1.3.33 server.

I tried the workarounds you referenced, but nothing worked to solve this problem. I still get the dreaded “no input file” message.

Here is my “search results” code that I’m trying to get working:

<ul>{exp:search:search_results switch="resultRowTwo|resultRowOne"}
<li class"search_results"><b><a href="{auto_path}">{title}</a></b> from {weblog}<br/>{excerpt}<br /></li>
{/exp:search:search_results}</ul>
