Hi. I looked through some previous threads and didn’t quite find any answers, maybe I didn’t look hard enough. But here goes anyway.

I need to set up online registration (collecting 20 bits of information) allowing people to pay for a Lacrosse league through Paypal or Google checkout at the same time. How do I implement?

Hi, madeforministry, welcome to the forums!

You can have people register, then create a product in a weblog for purchasing the membership to the league, and have that purchase shift their membership groups.

It would not be quite one step, but you could certainly make it flow appropriately.

The Simple Commerce module itself works with only PayPal Website Payments Standard.  If you need more options, then CoolCommerce or using EE with aMember may be good options for you.

I couldn’t figure out how to collect all the information that I need for the registration part. Is there a way to require whatever fields I want to register?

If you are familiar with javascript, jQuery has some form validation plugins you might have a look at. Required fields is usually a form validation topic.
No expert w/EE if there may be a method of form validation, just one suggestion then.

Just as a quick note if you are using the standard http://www.mysite.com/index.php/member/register/ type link then some of the fields are already required and you can easily add more to that list when you add in custom registration fields. That is a standard feature of ExpressionEngine but if you want to make your own registration form or whatever then you will need to use some form of Javascript to validate the fields first. ExpressionEngine as standard will just go to another page and tell you that you haven’t filled in the required fields and then ask you to go back a page and fill them in before you can finish with your registration.

Not the nicest of things to have happen nowadays but pretty much the only way to do it without enforcing the use of Javascript which I do commend EE upon.

A really great and exceptionally easy / powerful validation script to use would have to be the Live Validation script. I use that on nearly everything nowadays and can’t live without it.

Best wishes,

Mark
