I installed a new basic template as I’ve done several times previous. However, this time, for some reason, I get the following line appearing at the top of each entry:
“orderby="date" sort="desc" limit="15"}

And I also get:
“}
appearing under monthly archives and:
“ dynamic="off"}
appearing under most recent enteries.

What’s causing this? I’ve installed new templates dozens of times and I’ve never encountered this problem. I’ve also tried erasing everything and doing a clean reinstall but the problem persists. Can anyone take a look at my site and help me out with this? Thanks!

This indicates an unclosed tag or misplaced bracket, possibly an incorrect space somewhere.  If you can post your template code we can get it fixed.  We’d prefer for the formatting of these forums that you put it in a .txt file and upload it to your server then link to it - that way the thread is still easiliy viewed.  but either way we need to see it. =)

Uh, it doesn’t seem to come out correctly when you click the link. Hmmm…

The reason that’s occuring is that you’re not assigning the variable at the very top of the template but you’re calling the variable (which is non existant ;p) later, so add this to the top of the page:

{assign_variable:master_weblog_name="weblog1"}

replace weblog1 with the shortname of your weblog. =)

It worked when I tested it anyway. =)

(oh, in response to your second thing about it not showing up, if you view source it does, thats’ enough for me. =))

Ok, I did what you suggested but it still has text showin gup that shouldn’t be there. Take a look at my site again.

your weblog shortname has a capital S in it? it is case sensitive.

Yes, please post your template again.  If you are still having the same problem, it sounds like either the {assign_variable:master_weblog_name="weblog1"} tag is not at the very top of the template OR core.template.php was not replaced on the server with the EE 1.1 version of that file.

If you continue having problems, you can send me an email and I will look at your template directly.

Just to give a bit of a closure to this thread.  The site did not have EE 1.1 installed and so {assign_variable} was not a valid EE variable.  Upon a successful upgrade everything was hunky dory.
