Hi, I just upgraded 1.0 to 1.1.

In the Modules tab of the CP, what versions of the modules should I see? Everything still says 1.0 except the “referrer” module which shows 1.1.

Some new functionality is not working for me.

I’ve downloaded a fresh copy of EE1.1 four times now. If I look at the source code in some of the modules, “mod.email.php” for example, it shows the last update to be 2004-03-16. Yet, I assume this module was updated.

Did you run update.php after uploading the newer files?

Directory of D:\eefinal\aug18\system\modules\email

05/03/2003 08:37 PM           149 index.html
03/23/2004 01:10 AM         2,615 mcp.email.php
07/20/2004 12:06 PM         26,925 mod.email.php

It looks like that mod block wasn’t updated with a newer date.

The moblog and comment files don’t have a dated mod block.

I rely on date changes in a directory I keep on my hd.

We had to use mod blocks at my last programming job.

Basically it was a date stamp with the programer’s login name and what was the reason for the mod.

We also had to comment out the old code and put in the new code with the mod number next to it. When I make changes to the code I fiddle with in EE I still use mod blocks.

Thanks, Sue

I checked the dates in the file system, and they appear to be the same as yours, so I assume I am “updated”. And, I did successfully run the update.php script. The version numbers are not updated in the CP, though.

So, let’s go directly to my problem then.

I’m using “tell-a-friend” so visitors can email an “article” on the site to someone. I used to use Chris’s pop-up code because of a problem with tell-a-friend and its return logic, but want to go back to a non-pop-up solution. It was my understanding that the return logic was fixed and that I could get the “thank you” page to return to the last entry viewed (the one being emailed).

Here is my “bmd/friend” template opening code:

{exp:email:tell_a_friend charset=“utf-8” allow_html=“n” recipients=“bmtndog@mac.com” return=”|Return” weblog=“bmd”}

When I try to send an email, the “thank you” page does not give me a return link, instead I get a “You will be redirected…” message and I am then redirected to a page named “|Return”, which causes a 404 error. Hmmm.

So I changed the tell_a_friend opening tag to:

{exp:email:tell_a_friend charset=“utf-8” allow_html=“n” recipients=“bmtndog@mac.com” return=”” weblog=“bmd”}

And, the “thank you” page just says “Thank You! Your email message has been sent.” with no return to anywhere.

So, I’m really struggling getting the new feature in tell-a-friend to work.

Rick

PS: Sorry I could not embed the above code in code tags, but I guess there is a 100 character limit on that now…

I don’t use tell a friend, but what I’m thinking is you have to have an actual value for return..

Return Value info

return=“http://www.yoursitename.com/index.php/templatename/template”

According to docs, you can, but don’t have to, specify a return URL. And, if you want to control the link text you can, but don’t have to, specify that by using a pipe character followed by the link text. So, valid return parameters could be:

return=“http://my.great.site/page7”

or

return=“http://my.great.site/page7 | Return to my great site”

or, even:

return=”| Return to last page”

Which shoud take you to the most recently viewed page…then one you emailed.

At least, that is the way I read it.

It seems that the mod.email.php is not currently up to date.  We’ll try to get that file in there today.

Paul, no real urgency. Can you post here when it is available?

Thanks

Hm, I seemed to have not gotten back to you guys.  You can go download EE and replace the email module.  Its files are now up to date (and even include two bug fixes).
