Okay, I’m having trouble upgrading from 1.6.2 to 1.6.3 (full paid version of EE)... it’s frustrating because I’ve had trouble with every upgrade!

This time, though I’ve followed the update instructions to the letter, uploaded all the correct files, ran the php updater etc. the control panel still says I’m running 1.6.2 and insists that 1.6.3 is available.

I’ve checked the config file, and the app version says 163 so I don’t understand what the problem is. Any ideas?

O yes… I’m afraid to upgrade the forum to 2.1.0 until I’m sure that EE is actually upgraded to 1.6.3… Is this a justified fear?

If your config file contains ‘163’ for the app version, your upgrade went okay; your server just is not recognizing the changes made to the config.php file.  The server may be implementing a cache on the PHP files, such as eAccelerator.  If you don’t have access to flush this cache, you can typically force it by opening config.php manually, making a change, saving, accessing your site, and reverting the change.  Try that and see if that resolves the issue for you.

Interesting…

That seems to have corrected the problem.

Here’s what I did in case anyone else has this problem.

1). Download config.php, verify that it says $conf[‘app_version’] = “163”;

2). Change app version back to “162” like so: $conf[‘app_version’] = “162”;

3). Upload the edited config.php file, log in to control panel, log back out.

4). Change app version to the correct version “163” and upload changed config.php

5). Log in to control panel, control panel now shows correct version.

Glad Derek got you squared away.  That one can be hard to spot.  Is all squared away now- and did you get the forum upgraded as well?
