I think Addy Awards are just judged by peers (don’t quote me) - so I’m not sure where the opportunity is, unless a future client happens to see a little icon you might put on your site that you’re a “winner” of some award they’ve never heard of. I’ve seen web guys put a whole row of award icons (like an “Addy” icon) at the bottom of their site - and for some pretty questionable awards.
I just looked at some entrants for the West Michigan Ad Club web category and had to laugh. I went to just one site to check it out and it...doesn’t...even...work. Why is it in there? Cause someone paid for it to be there and it “looks good”. This ain’t print, people!
I guess all I’m saying is - I’d rather do good work and have the client appreciate it then do work that really more-or-less just looks good and have peers appreciate it. I’m low-key like that.
But hey, if you need the eyeballs and advertising, go for it.
I’ll end my ranting posts and let this thread get back to business.
