Hi Mark,

As a quick update I’ve just noticed that the old extension doesn’t work either so perhaps it wasn’t working in the first place? I have used this extension before but that was on a 1.5.2 version of EE and just yesterday I started coding this new site using 1.6 and wanted to install this but it seems as though it doesn’t work though.

Best wishes,

Mark

Mark,

I think you might be using an old version of the Livesearch extension, which could be the cause.
Please update to the latest version.

If that doesn’t help there must be another extension that doesn’t play nice.

Hi Mark,

Just tried very quickly disabling live search and it now kind of works!!
It works when you go back and edit an entry but not when you go to publish a brand new entry!!

Is there any reason why this wouldn’t work on the PUBLISH page but does when you go back and edit an entry from the EDIT page.
Really I would need this to work on the PUBLISH page and not too bothered about the EDIT page.

Thanks for any more help with this though. I will update the live search extension now though.

Best wishes,

Mark

Hi Mark,

The extension works fine on both pages, please test it on a fresh install.
I’m pretty sure there must be some other extension conflict.

Can you make a quick list (or screenshot) of all extensions you’re using?

Oh btw, my name is not Mark wink

Cheers,
Elwin

Hi Elwin,

Oops sorry about the name conflict, I had read one of the PMs you had sent me and my eye must have glanced down at the quote of my PM so I saw my name. Half asleep as usual here!!!

I will try disabling extensions one by one until I find out what does it. The whole of the system other than the extensions is a totally fresh install so hopefully that will find out what is causing the problem.

Will let you know what I find out.

Thanks again.

Best wishes,

Mark

Hiya,

Just turned off all extensions other than the Tag extension and the Tab Forward extension and it still won’t work on 1.6.0 It works fine when going back in to EDIT an entry but just not on a new PUBLISH page entry.

Not too sure what is going on now. The rest of the site is completely as it comes out of the box EE 1.6.0

Sorry to be a pest with this one.

Best wishes,

Mark

Hmm, interesting.

Could you send me the source code of the page that does _not_ work one more time?

Hi Eliwin,

Thanks for the last reply. I thought I would post on here instead of the PM just incase anyone else ever has the same problem.
I’ve figured out what it is at last!!! grin

At the moment on the site I am working on I only have one single weblog set. When I click on the PUBLISH tab it automatically takes me to the PUBLISH page for that weblog. This is when it doesn’t work.

I tried clicking on the weblog when it appears in the list when you hover over the tab and it all works fine. All had to do with the M=entry_form that you were on about.

Don’t know if this is fixable for anyone that just has one weblog but no matter, at least now it all works fantastically so thanks for that.

Best wishes,

Mark

Hi Mark,

Thank you for figuring that one out!

They only problem I have now is that on that page I do not know the weblog_id of the current weblog.
For a default install it will always be 1, but if you delete the default weblog and create a new one it will be different. (probably 2) wink
We need the weblog_id to fetch the extension settings (what tab to show for which weblog)

I’ll add an extra check for that scenario to make sure it always works properly.

back in a bit…

Hiya,

No problem. Myself I usually do delete the default_site weblog but maybe others don’t? It’s okay for me as now I know what to do to fix it then I will always just click on the weblog menu that appears on hover so no need to work on this like mad for me!! grin

If on the other hand you want to do it and it helps out others that may only use the default weblog then you are a very kind sir indeed! grin

Thanks again for all your help on this one.

Best wishes,

Mark

Updated the extension to version 1.1

This version adds the following:

- support for the “Pages” tab
- support for the “Tag” tab (part of Solspace’s Tag module)
- now works properly when clicking the “Publish” tab (instead of a weblog from the menu)

Download link

Any more modules out there that add tabs to the Publish page? wink

Cocoaholic, I tried using this on my local install, and when I try to change the drop down list boxes for my individual weblogs, the changes don’t save.

It’s the only extension I have activated.

Any ideas?

Hi Sue,

It’s a very simple extension, nothing special going on when saving settings.
Did it install correctly?

Could you check your exp_extensions table and post what’s in the ‘settings’ field?
