As some of you know, I recently (as in two weeks ago) moved from Massachusetts to Oregon.  Yesterday my “stuff” arrived, as I so gleefully bragged on Twitter.  Why, you might ask, am I sharing this with all of you?  Well, this article marks my first work-day in an “office”!  Most of you probably don’t know that all those years of answering technical support questions occurred on a couch with a laptop on my lap (ironic, eh?), and so I am especially proud today to be sitting at a desk, in a computer chair, looking out a window and sharing insights with you all.

A desk with a chair.  It’s a really novel luxury that too many people take for granted.  Learn to love your desk, it’s a much nicer work environment, really! =)

As a working basis for this article, shall we say that I wanted to write on my site all about my work environment, thus giving me a place to brag about my new office.  I could use the category “Work”, and by using categories, allow my audience to view all of the entries where I discussed work.

So, with that as our premise, shall we discuss categories and EE?

Onwards!

Thanks, PX.  Nah, I’m in Hillsboro, about 20ish minutes outside of Portland.

This is mostly my office, except I finally found my Bose speakers. wink

It’s a little cramped, I got the smallest desk possible in my old apartment since it was a tiny 1 bedroom.  But it works. wink

I always remove those under the desk keyboard drawers as they bang my knees. I like a standard bench table personally…

Congrats on the move!

lisa,

i love your series on the EE blog. keep it up! it gives a different look to how EE works.

as a suggestion, it will be great if you can, once a while, write on more advanced topics and more innovative/unusual use of EE tags, uses that are not obvious from the main EE doc.

I think that was the purpose of ‘Behind the Iron Curtain’ series which I’m very much looking to reading the next edition of *cough cough Derek!*...

Yes, this is in the category of “Learning EE” - it is geared at helping people grasp the basic concepts and get started.

That said, I know that some people want to see highlighted the more advanced ways people use EE.  Thank you for the feedback. =)

Wow, cool, I didn’t know EE was in Oregon. Why’d I move from there?? I’m usually from Eugene (when I’m not gallivanting around the world)

Thanks for the articles
