Am I able to use ExpressionEngine code in an actual blog entry or can it only be used in templates?

That’s what I feared :-(.  It would be nice if you could, there are some cool plugins that would be nice to use in some entries….

Actually, you now can.  I just wrote a plugin that allows you to use EE tags in entries.  Send me an email if you want to help me test it out.

I’ve noticed that Paul has a hard time resisting tempting new ideas when it comes to plugins. Which is a good thing for you guys, but is hell on his sleep schedule. grin

It should also be noted that using this plugin is a potential security problem if you do not trust the members who are able to submit entries.  With this plugin being used, someone could easily use the {exp:query} plugin to retrieve information from the database without restriction.

I am quite tempted to create a new version of the plugin that does not allow that plugin to be used but allows all others.
