I’ve seen various comparisons of blogging tools and I’ve done lots of research, but I’m on information overload.

If you chose EE over TextPattern recently, could you share why?

Also, if you work for EE and have a few minutes to share on why you would encourage someone to use your products (EE and PMachine Hosting) vs. TextPattern and TextDrive (for a Web site and a blog combined), I would be most grateful.

I went from MT to textpattern and used textpattern for a few weeks then switched to expressionengine.  Why?  EE is far more refined, flexible and powerful.  There are also a slew more updates and a bigger team.  As much as I love Dean and textpattern really is a beautiful blogging tool, EE just offered more power for what I want to do in the long run.

I played with Textpattern in a test directory, and while it’s elegant and it’s got tons of potential and it’s developer is a genius, it isn’t nearly as developed as EE yet.  And since there’s apparently only 1 guy actively developing it, who does so in his spare time around his fulltime job, things happen VERY slowly with TextPattern. And the community is much smaller (compare the TP forums to these), so support could be very hard to come by. 

Re: Hosting- I don’t know a thing about TextDrive, so I can’t comment. I’ve heard great things about the service and reliability of pMachine Hosting, but it was a little pricey for my tastes, at least for personal blogging.  Maybe if I were running a business on my site I’d pay more.
