Is it possible to use an audioblog service and have it post audio files as blog entries directly to Expresson Engine? Are there any working examples you could show me, or is there a list of service(s) that definitely do or do not work with this system?

Thanks!

I don’t think that you can use it as I believe it uses xml-rpc which I don’t think EE supports.  I’m not sure of this - they do allow you to post requests for certain systems and you could do that.

But the system costs money - I’d love to see a module that lets this happen with EE but can’t even begin to imagine how it’d work since you’d need phone numbers etc… maybe something with email etc.

If I recall, Audblog sends you an email with the link to the audio file.  Using the Moblog Module, you should be able to import that email.  You can remove the emails content using the Ignore Text preference for the moblog (it does chunks and will also remove individual lines), which might allow you to only have the link remaining.  If just the link remains from the email, you should be able to use the Moblog Template to create a link with the {text}.

Just a thought, and I have not seen it done or if that is exactly how it works.

At audioblog.com, we use XML-RPC to connect, however, you can record and publish audio either over the phone or using our BlogRecorder, and it will give you HTML that you can paste. You’d get a little graphic that would open in a new window. It’s not the most elegant solution, but it does help out those who use system that don’t have the XML-RPC.

I have one of my sites using the AudioBlog service.

Yes, it is a for fee service, but certainly well worth the small cost. I use a similar product called AudioGenerator which I’m going to drop now.

You don’t have to post the little graphich that opens in a new window, you just need to put in the <object classid=...> string instead.

You can see it at: SheBlogs

Does the new Blogger API module improve the interaction with audioblog.com? Sorry, I don’t really know what “XML-RPC” is. Maybe the Blogger API has nothing to do with XML-RPC ...

derschlendrian, yes it does.

It’s not perfect, the title field isn’t working correctly. But the audio and text goes in like it is supposed to.
