I just looked a my Referers page and it is FULL of porn links!! Does this mean that my site is being posted on porn sites? My site deals with physical education…not porn.

Is there anyway to not allow this to happen?

just referrer spam… they use a special program that surfs the web and sends false referers…  lots of blogs list the referers publically so they’re hopeing to show up on the sites to get more hits or just boost their google page rank…

go into the control panel under the modules section view the referer module and click the link to download the pmachine blacklist.  then view the blacklist and if any of the sites aren’t on the list send a message to blacklist@pmachine.com with the urls so they can be added…

Sounds nice, but even with the blacklist, I still got a lot of them.

In then end, I had to turn off referrer logging.

I thing some intelligence should be built into the referrer plugin to try and stop this maybe.

If you do a search for referrer spam you’ll see a ton of ways to do this with .htaccess.  Granted it’s a pain in the butt, but its a ‘net-wide phenemona.

you can also add them to the referrer blacklist module manually.  Any updated made via the pmachine blacklist are appended, so your additions aren’t lost.

Sorry for the late reply but I have been camping with my 5th graders for 3 days…

I guess I am not the only one with the problem…I turned off referrer logging..
