I swear I had read on these forums somewhere that someone was customizing the member templates using {include:content} (or some similar tag) in regular templates? Am I crazy? I remember reading a long post complete with code examples on how this person was using embeds or includes to modify member templates.

I forgot to bookmark that thread and now it seems like it’s lost - right when I got to working on the member area of the site I’m building. I really want to spend as little time as possible modifying member pages. Anyone know what I’m talking about? Thanks.

Also, a decent example of what I’m looking to do is found at Jambor-ee.com. Real basic member profile and management pages. Anyone know if that member section was constructed by just modifying the regular profile_theme.php file, or through another means?

FOUND IT

The phrase I really meant to type in was “running the member templates through the regular EE template engine” and the thread I was looking for is here and specifically smallbeer’s comment here.

I’m doing this right now, too, and while the content tag works, the breadcrumbs and other header and footer parts don’t:

{exp:member:manager}

{content}

{
/exp:member:manager}

Is this completely removed in 1.6?

It looks that way.

I get this error:

The following errors were encountered
  * The action you have requested is invalid.
Return to Previous Page

with this code:

{exp:member:manager}
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"
>
<
html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="{lang}">
<
head>
<
title>Post Reply</title>

<
meta http-equiv='content-type' content='text/html; charset={charset}' />

{stylesheet}

</head>
<
body>

{breadcrumb}
{content}
{copyright}

</body>
</
html>
{/exp:member:manager}

I’m going to post this as a bug and see what happens.

Make sure you’re using a template group index for this tag:

(mymembergroup/index)
and not
(somegroup/memberpagetempate)

And be sure to use something after the /, like mymembergroup/login or mymembergroup/register
