I just wish to ask if there is a feature list for the upcomming forums and Image Album module for EE? After reading through all the features of EE it really peaked my interest and made me think into seriously upgrade my old Pmachine Pro site, its a pity that forum integration is still in the works (while the Pmachine forums is very basic). I did a search through the forums and went through the website but very little info seems available.

Greatly appreciated if anyone can help me with the feature list of both of these upcomming modules. (I’m hoping that the upcomming EE forum module would be as good as phpbb.)

Hmmm so I take it that not much details about the forums and Image Album module have been made publicly yet?

Pretty much none has, other than that they’re in the works. =)

There is no feature-list for either module, and there likely will not be one until the module is actually released.  We continually make tweaks right up until a day before we release a build based on feature requests, beta tester feedback, and bugs.

While I cannot comment on the forum module yet, I will say that the Image Gallery is turning out to be pretty darn slick.

Thanks! Good to hear that the Image Gallery is promising. Hopefully the forum module would be just as slick and make a seemingly perfect package perfect smile

I’m looking forward to beta-testing the hell out of the Image Gallery module once it’s ready for some heavy testing. I’ve got pics set aside just waiting for it. grin

@Paul

I’m using this opportunity to describe our needs for an image module:

We are working on a party (event) website. Some of the site’s content will be photos from parties and events. We will send photographers to selected parties & events. They will shoot photos (20-200) from the party and later (the next day) publish all these photos to our website.

So it would be great:

1. If the module would let our photograpers upload the contents of a whole folder from their local computer to our website (one by one would not be realistic with 200 pictures).
2. If the photographer could relate all the pictures of an event with the corresponding party (event) in our “Events” weblog (maybe he could manually enter the entry_id of the event or he would go to the specific event on our site and start the upload from there).
3. If the module would automatically create a thumbnail of each picture.
4. If the module would automatically insert our logo into each picture.
5. If we could relate all pictures from a photograper to his member account (we would create a “photographer” member group).
6. If we could select a few of the photos from an event as “teasers” (i.e. clicking any of them would take the visitor to the gallery with all the pictures from that event).

Thanks.

After looking around for various gallery software, now I’m using Photokorn from www.telekorn.de, a MySQL/PHP gallery with a clean design, lot of features and a good support. There is also a PRO-version in the pipe with member support and other features.
Maybe it is possible to integrate a system like this into Expression Engine. If other people are interested, we can ask the developer Tina Keil from Telekorn.

@ Paul

And if I may add to my post before - We would like to let website visitors send a MMS photo to cell phones (or email addresses). This is very important feature for us.

Thanks.

I am looking at migrating the imagebank of trauma(dot)org to something that *might be* PHP based.  My dream is that it would allow for the same sort of functionality as we have on HTML except that the contributors would post directly.  Then I could go in and make things perfect (have never had an original thought myself but can copy and paste like a virtuoso).

I hope EE can solve things like
- automatically downsizing huge images without wierd reformatting
- allow for easy editing in the event it is required without requiring “backend access”
- Images can be grouped into ‘cases’
- Image categories can be added (eg. ‘Liver’)
- Tables can be linked (Organ injury scale)
- Automatic thumbnailing
- Automatic search

Do these wish items come too late in the devel. phase…are they already matched?
