I just discovered this and it made me want to cry.

I used the assign_variable to assign a current_blog variable to my templates.  When I created new weblogs and duplicated those templates it had gone and replaced all the occurances of weblog=”{current_blog}” with weblog=blog_shortname.

Which was unexpected and made this use of the assign variable really frustrating.  I therefore hereby request a feature to not update the weblog= fields when duplicating templates for a new weblog.

I think that may be a bug.  It’s not supposed to replace variables, only the pure weblog definitions.

In other words, if you have this:

weblog=“weblog1”

And you create a new weblog called “weblog2”, then it rightly should replace instances of “weblog1” with “weblog2” so that your templates will be correct.

Unless I’m misunderstanging your point, I think what you are describing is that the variable was replaced:

weblog=”{current_blog}”

If so, then it’s being too aggressive, so we’ll have to fix it.

yes, {current_blog} was replaced with “weblog2” (from your example) - that was what I didn’t expect.
