I am an amateur web designer sort of. I construct web sites for the odd friend (at no charge) & host (at no charge) a few sites for them. I am disabled and this all is kind of a hobby for me. So please be patient ![]()
The topics ...
“Simple Commerce and Personal License ” http://expressionengine.com/forums/viewthread/38052/
and
“Can I give members their own mini-site ? ” http://expressionengine.com/forums/viewthread/37502/
... have really helped to answer a few of my questions (I think). Thank you posters ![]()
Unfortunately ... I have a cognitive dysfunction so I am not certain I always understand correctly the things I think I understand. Or maybe its better explained by saying “I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer these days”. If you know what I mean. ![]()
So ... just to confirm ... #1 friend has a small business (that does support him) & wants to advertise it on the net and also now sell his products via the web as well.
So #1 friend would require a Commercial License.
#2 friend is in charge of developing & getting a web presence set up for a registered non-profit business association (has a non-profit number etc). Members would pay annual dues ... but no donations or anything are taken.
So ... #2 friend would require a Personal License???
I don’t know if either of them will choose to go the “ExpressionEngine” route ... but I am impressed enough with what I have seen so far that I am going to strongly encourage them to. For both ... using the product would certainly make my “job” easier. #1 wants to set up on online store & take payments. #2 want to have members register online and pay annual dues ... as well as each full member having the ability to create a page or two web site to promote their business and link to their own websites etc. (a glorified yellow pages ad) And EE certainly looks like it would fill both their needs.
IF I can talk one more friend into buying EE ... is there a way, since each person would be registering for & paying for their own copy ... that I/they could benefit from the discounts mentioned in another post I read??? Or is that only possible if I were to buy & pay for them and then transfer registration afterwards?
Thanks for your assistance & consideration. Its appreciated ... along with your patience
Peter
