The human body was never meant to sit in an office chair all day staring at a glowing screen and typing on a keyboard while not getting any exercise and sipping sugary or caffeinated drinks.  As a developer though, your job is to work on a computer and produce wonders for the rest of the world to behold.  Often for hours upon end.  Unless steps are taken, your work could be detrimental to your health and eventually work will become both tedious and unpleasant.  On the flip side, if you are happy, healthy, and well rested then you are going to work more effectively and feel better about life in general.  I think the second option is greatly preferred.

Quite partial to an interesting, non-bitter green tea blend right now.

And what’s that then? I like interesting…

Interesting in the fact that it is the first store bought green tea that I have not wanted to add something to once it has finished steeping.  You actually are not even aware of the flavor most of the time.  Very good for early morning coding.

Tazo's Zen - Green Tea Blend

Tazon Zen is made with full-flavored, pan-fired Chinese green tea.  Long known for its legendary properties, this aromatic tea is combined with lemon verbena leaves from Eastern Europe, lemon-grass from Guatemala, spearmint leaves from Oregon and a hint of sweet lemon essence.

Yeah, that’s a good one. I agree. I didn’t realize that it was such a mixed blend.

This is pretty timely, considering I just started on my personal health and fitness track just last weekend.  I think sometimes working in a job that ties you to your chair can make you complacent, but I’m trying to put a stop to it. I’m logging my meals at a cool place called, Nutridiary, which helps me realize what I’m eating, what I’m lacking, and how much calories I need to consume per day based on my height, current weight, and goal weight. I’ve also started to exercise regularly too, and what a difference I’m already feeling.

I’m also drinking green tea every morning now. I have this incomprehensible Japanese brand. Incomprehensible because everything in Japanese except for the hasty import English sticker that says “Ingredient: Green tea”, but it tastes quite good. :D

I have enjoyed the Foojoy Gold Tea line, the three I have currently and love are:  Silver Tip White Tea (its the full size silvery buds, hand plucked and lightly steamed, highest quality I have seen in teas), Sichuan Meng Ding Green Buds, and Lungching Premium Green.  No need to add anything to them at all, very high quality teas.  In the LA and San Francisco area you can get them at Ranch99 markets, online there are a few places I have seen selling this line, but while pricey in the store, the online stores seem to charge an even higher premium.  On the black tea side I really enjoy the Caribou Coffee Mango Tea, great flavor, slightly sweet and no need to add anything to it either.  Only problem is they don’t sell this tea on their online store, only in their physical store locations (which limits you to living in one of I think 12 states currently).

Coffee wise, I love Pete’s Coffee Kona Reserve, or Caribou Coffee’s La Minita Peaberry (its seasonal, and you can buy it from their online store when its in season, and its really good made in a French Press.

Just a few of my picks wink

I mentioned it on another thread but Bikram Yoga is all over the US and you really do come out of there glowing through and through. I think it’s a great complement to seatwork. It’s just one form of yoga, let alone one form of exercise, but the heated room is a treat.

So Paul observes the Sabbath—I didn’t know EE is semi-Kosher software. That is hard to do when you’re fired up about something.
