WestAfricaPress was first a sideblog called “Nigeriablog” of my personal blog related to topics especially from and about Nigeria. This is because I’m married to a Nigerian woman since July and since I know her I’m interested in the issues going on there.

But now I purchased a second license to make a multilingual news site for the whole of Westafrica on its own domain.

So please feel free to leave any comment about the site here or there.

The archive is not as huge yet and the search and member templates still have get fit to the rest of the color scheme.

Btw: we are still looking for authors who are interested in writing from/about Westafrica, search the net for news and so on, especially in French or Portuguese. But German oder English writers are still welcome, too.

Well done mapu!

This is my favorite kind of design; simple, clean and attractive, with live colors.

Good luck!

I appreciate your comment very much, EE Lover. Especially because I got about 50 visits from this thread, but it seems that nobody else wants to leave a comment about the site (I would even appreciate some critics of course).

So, thanks again for your comment!

Perhaps that’s because it pretty much a blog standard format and that’s not radical enough to garner “wow” comments and yet it’s also executed properly so doesn’t warrant a jumping upon (broken in Firefox, etc.). I like the slightly larger than usual use of fonts, and your masthead is nice and clean. My main criticism is that it’s very “blocky” and has no images. But if the content is consistently then these things stop mattering.

It’s a nice focused topic (well, focused to me, I haven’t come across any other blog about Nigeria, but then again I’ve never looked for one) so if you keep it up with the same standards and focus I’m sure the word will spread.

Don’t lose heart!

This is a comment like I was was looking for. wink

I wasn’t looking for “wow’s” but if the lack of replies here means that mostly everything is okay with the site, it’s fine, too. grin

We are already good positioned in Google about the topics and we are planning to bring more real own articles (not only grabbed from the internet) with pictures in the near future. The only problem is, we are doing this in our sparetime and right now we are only two of us.

Originally we planned to leave the site without advertisings, but it’s somehow strange that sites without banners and other ads are always looking too plain. So we are thinking about small ads on our site, just because of the look…

You’re welcome!

Although I visit the forums every day, as you see I saw your topic after 4 days. I don’t know why but this sometimes happens. Maybe others missed your topic too.

Another reason could be that there are many times you just don’t feel adding any comment. There are many site introduction topics here that I didn’t feel adding comments to most of them!

Good luck!

Mapu:

I loved your site - sorry I didn’t comment initially. Much like EE Lover, I like simple, elegant sites and yours fits that description.

I lived in Daloa, Cote d’Ivoire for a little over two years, so I was especially interested in your site.

Thanks,
Frank
