Hello all, and happy 2006.  I used to post here quite a bit and remember there were some very helpful folks hanging out around these parts.

I am actually not certain where I should post this.  I had a personal license for 1.2, however that expired.  I was certain I was entitled to at least one version upgrade before that, possibly more, however I apparently failed to download them prior to expiration of my license.

When I returned to my account and the download section the other day, I just assumed the 1.4 version listed there was the latest version available to my license at the time it expired, so I downloaded it and ran the upgrade without any major problems.

So, I guess now I’m running the free “core” version of 1.4!  (That’s OK though, since I wasn’t using the moblog feature or some of the other personal license stuff anyhow.)  Still, wish I had downloaded the latest while I still could…

Anyway, I am experiencing some rather weird behavior with this new version.  Specifically, I seem to be getting a bunch of encrypted garble instead of returns from my SQL tables for all my main links and article content.

I know it’s not a database issue however, because when accessed through the administration panel this all shows up just fine.  I can edit the text of articles, view my templates (which are all still in tact), etc.

Here is the link so you can see what’s going on.  Since I am at a total loss I would really appreciate any help:

http://www.iparadigm.org/weblogs.php

I have to assume this is something to do with how 1.4 handles internal content tags (or whatever they’re called?)  If this helps, on the left bar, right under the CATEGORIES section, this is the tag that is supposed to list my categories.  (I can go into Category Management and they all still appear and are in the proper order, so again I guess it must be these template tags…)

{exp:weblog:categories weblog="iParadigm" style="nested"}
<a href="{path=weblog/index}">{category_name}</a>
{/exp:weblog:categories}

If I change the options in setup to display Debug info, this is what I get:

Error

The following tag has a syntax error
:

{exp:mailinglist:form}

Please correct the syntax in your template
.

The mailinglist is not available for EECore.

If you remove the mailinglist stuff from your templates, you’ll be OK.

NOTE: {exp:email:contact_form} doesn’t work with EECore either.

Maybe you’re not interested in this, but it is possible to renew your download access….

https://secure.pmachine.com/index.php?ACT=Renewals

(Your license doesn’t expire, just your download rights.)

Thank you both for getting back to me so quickly.  Sue, your suggestion was exactly the solution problem, and one I should have suspected from the message in the debug text.  I guess in my mind I figured that it couldn’t be that one tag causing the rest to mess up, but it was!

E, I didn’t realize I could get the latest personally licensed full version of EE 1.4 by renewing my download subscription!  I had decided not to pursue the renewal route as even the reduced $99.95 price is a bit much for me at the moment, however if I can get updates for a year on my existing license for the price of the download renewal, I’m on it.  wink

Thanks again!
