Sorry if this is in the wrong forum!

Well I decided I would get back into designing again and I made a template that I have been programming since last night at 10:00 PM EST (planning, design, programming, debugging, the whole 9 yards),  its called EE Bliss (or so I named it let me know if there is another template out there with the same name), looking for reccomendations, comments, cut-downs anything.  Let me know what you think of it, if you think something could be added let me know if you think the colors should be adjusted let me know.

URI TO VIEW TEMPLATE: http://www.inet-logic.com/shop/eetmpl12302005/

INFO:

Language: XHTML 1 (Tried using XHTML 1.1 but forms wont validate and its not good for business to make a user have to change and adapt backend for my sake), CSS 3

Compatible: IE, Mozilla, Netscape, Opera
Note: Has many fixes to get correct rendering from IE on XHTML 1 and CSS 3

Other Notes: Its section 508 compatible (been tested again and again through each step, full css design there isnt a single thing in my template that has to do with tables

Thank you.

P.D There will be lots more templates to come this is just the first one Ive done besides my personal site in a long time.

Very pretty.  My only real criticism is that the main text is almost unreadable because of how light it is.

Yes, the text definitely should be a darker shade of grey. Other than that, as methnen said, yery pretty indeed.

Edit: The comments on your site are broken, I tried 4 or 5 times in vain to leave a comment, it would always tell me to “submit the word that appears in the image” although I did.

On IE6.0, your site suffers from the flash of unstylized content.

Jordan,

Thank you. I note the template displays quite nicely on a plain text web browser such as the R.I.M. Blackberry.  Excellent. (I have not checked on cell phones.)

However, when the page is printed out in IE6-WinXPAND Firefox1.0.7-WinXP, the style degrades. All the links (Home, Archives, About…etc.) are jammed together, there is no space between them and no vertical bar between them. The graphic at the top is left justified instead of centered.

Will you be selling a revised template that:
1. Does not suffer from the flashing effect (noted by Rob Lombardi) in IE6 on Windows XP?
2. Has black text (Even though the site validates, I am concerned about readability for visitors with less than perfect vision). Alternative: if your template will not be adjusted for darker text, will you provide instructions in your handbook or manual that permits the end user to darken it?
3. That prints better?

Heh… this is probably nothing that anyone does not allready know, but info for the flash of unstyled content is at the following link…

Looks like a pretty trivial fix

1.) Yes I will fix the template against that, It does not show up on my laptop or any of the PCs I use to program but I will add the fix from that site.  I am very sorry for this.

2.) It wont exactly be black, however, a greenish black, darker in contrast then right now but not to light to be printed by your users and quite beautiful on the site and printer.

3.) It was never expected to be printed but that is a good way to look at it since the original design was for an author type who likes to tell stories, I can adjust the navigation to correctly show up in printers by de-styling and just divisioning the center alignments for the navigation.  I will add many fixes for printers for you and make sure that its printer friendly.

Other Notes: I will be making it AAA compliant and adding the British Compliancy Link as well (it is already British conformed I just didnt feel it was necessary to add the link), I will make it more printer friendly for you smile as request (that is no problem) the fix is easily done, the next version will have complete XHTML 2 and XML Conformancy as well as contain many fixes that I have noticed my self.

Thank you for testing the site on Blackberry smile Its nice to know it displays nicely.

Another Note: If everyone wants I can make a WML template set for the blog template if you would like this would allow you to get cellphone users on your site smile (I would also include instructions on how to include it into your site with no problems).

I finally had time to update the template, it is now finished and available at http://www.inet-logic.com/shop/eetmpl12302005/  it is now printer friendly (the links no longer rely on CSS for visibility) and it is also AAA conformed.
