Macintouch has started a discussion about CMS systems, with pMachine and EE mentioned, with one reader slamming pMachines support! Here’s the Macintouch Link. I have always been pleased with pMachines support… even with the orphaning of pMachine Pro and dropping support, if Microsoft can do it why can’t pMachine do it….

Thanks for the heads up. I sent a letter to Ric, the MacInTouch editor, with a response to the comment. Hopefully he’ll publish it. smile

There is a very favorable comment in that thread as well.

Glad there were a couple of good ones in there as well.  The slam wasn’t even accurate:

Even though pMachine was very expensive (well over $100), the developer orphaned pMachine without warning.

Was pmpro ever even close to $100?  I think when I bought it, it was around $35, though that was non-commercial.  But it was nice to see the positive posts balancing things out.

Commerical pMPro was $125, IIRC.

Always shocked me that people found that “Expensive”, but pay more than that for a single-user of MSWord without blinking an eye.

That’s a bigger spread than I thought- but there’s a fair spread between EE personal and commercial licenses, so I probably should have guessed.  But yea- for a commercial license, I’m surprised that some folks thought it was a lot.  Then again, I think I debated a while over spending $35 back in the day.  Sad, given I’ll blow way more than that on a night out.

Hey they already posted Leslie’s response(well stated too).... I guess I should have posted the text from the main page… that was the part that caught my eye…

Today’s report on Content Management Systems highlights Alahup (an interesting, Mac-friendly CMS from France), pMachine support issues [updated] and a few more resources.

I have never thought that any of pMachine’s products are expensive, especially with the level of support… Free is not always the best….
