I launched MetaxuCafe < http://metaxucafe.com/ >a couple of days ago and 55 members joined up the first day and we had well over 2000 hits on day two. The site is a network for bloggers that write about literature. From my original announcement:

MetaxuCafé is devoted to highlighting the best content from the community of bloggers who write about books.

We serve both the writers and readers and intend to drive traffic to member’s sites and create context around and give permanence to their original writing.

The site is all EE and the EE forums. I’m using ‘blogs’ for everything including the ads, which rotate around the site. There’s still a bunch to do and more to learn, but the flexibility of EE, particularly in terms of custom fields, the way blogs are structured (for instance I have two ‘blogs’ sharing the same category group), and the ability for a novice like me to create SQL selects right there in my templates has made the site a possibility.

Anyway, even though this message is to plug my site, I can’t thank those of you on the forum enough for the help while I was building the site!

p.s. I still have some SQL issues I’m trying to work on, which I may post elsewhere, if any experts are out there and want to give some advice, that would be great.

Impressive, most impressive.
Obi-Wan has taught you well (oh wait it’s a literay blog isn’t it smile )
All jokes aside, very nice job, really like the clean design which puts the focus on the content…

Thanks for that - I did have to move a few things around because I have so much on that front page I was getting comments like “great site once I figure out how to use it.” Fortunately, I modularized the hell out of the templates, so it was easy to move things around.

Thanks again

Everything will be good in the end. If it’s not good, it’s not the end.
