I do not currently run Expression Engine, but I have been thinking about it as a friend raves about its features all the time.  The site will be used to host my news blog.  I currently have a Postnuke site, with several hundred articles posted.

Is there a way to upgrade my Postnuke site to Expression Engine?  If I switch, will my large archive of articles make the switch with me?  That is really the only way I can see myself purchasing and installing Expression Engine.

The best way to do this would be to import the nuke articles into EE.  Can Postnuke export to MT format?  If so, EE has an importer that will work ‘out of the box’.

I just did a Google search to find resources about exporting Postnuke to MT.  I found one post by a guy on a discussion forum saying he had a script, and to contact him if anyone needed it—but I can’t find his contact info!  Any suggestions on how to approach the issue of exporting Postnuke?

Thanks… I actually just figured how to do that right after that last post.  I will leave a message here if and when I hear back.  This seems like a great resource to publicize—particularly for people like me interested in buying Expression Engine if it means I don’t lose all my past work…

Also- I’m not sure how flexible nuke templating is- folks get EE data into MT export format just using the regular templates- see here.  So if nuke can do something like that, we could probably come up with a template.  Worst case scenario, I might could come up with a way to import the rss feeds- at least the articles if not the comments. 

But if there’s an existing exporter, it’s by far the easiest way to go.

I just exported my postnuke db and it appears to be a text edit file.  Would this make it easier to import?

I was just perusing google, and found this script which looks like it might be a way to export from the postnuke database to MT format.  Note: I don’t know how to use it, where to use it, or if it’ll work with current postnuke versions - nor if it’ll break things. I have nothing to do with it, I just found it on google. =)

Anyway, that’s my big disclaimer - run at your own risk; but it may do the job.
