I’ve made absolutely no changes to my sites whatsoever. But this AM I log into them and each using the Weather plug-in seems to be having the same problem. I am gettings these messages. A bunch of them.

Notice: Only variables should be assigned by reference in D:\hshome\........................\plugins\pi.world_weather.php on line 183

Since I have changed either my EE code or my EE installation, and everything was fine yesterday, I am thinking this is something on my host provider’s side. Perhaps with PHP. But I am not sure what question to ask.

Any idea how best to phrase it?

Thanks!

It sounds like PHP was upgraded to 4.4.  You should contact the author to see if they’ve updated the plugin to make it work with PHP 4.4 =)  Moving this to the plugin forum.

hmmm. You might be right. I assume if I go to CONTROL PANEL/ADMIN/PHP INFO that the version displayed is indeed the version of PHP that my host provider is running. And it is indeed 4.4.1.

I will see if the plug-in has been updated. If not I will remove the references for now.

Thanks Lisa.

Certainly.  The other option is to modify the plugin yourself.  Make a backup first, and then go into it and remove ampersands.  I don’t actually program but that is what people seem to have done to get plugins working thus far.

Preferably, of course, is an updated version from the author. =)

I don’t fear going in to change the code. Probably should though, because I haven’t a clue of what to change!!! wink

I believe it’s just a matter of removing all ampersands.  It can’t hurt to try, you can always revert/remove the code. =)

That worked. I changed all “=&” to “=”. I left any other references to “&” alone. Although I suspect the others were simply comments and deletion would not have been a problem.

Thanks. I am up and running again. And better yet - I don’t have to look out the window for the weather. wink
