The “Danswerkhuys” (dutch for dance workshop) site was a site that had been screaming for a make-over for too long, so a few months ago I volunteered and did a pro-bono job.
The old site was clobbered together in Frontpage 4 (oh, the horror) by the founder of this non-profit organisation, who’s a nice guy and a decent dancer, but who’s clueless when it comes to webdesign.
I’m not even going to show you some of the old pages, that’s how bad they were ![]()
Anyway, their new site is up!
http://www.danswerkhuys.be
(in English and Dutch, although content is still a little scarce and some things like feeds and search boxes still need implementing)
I realize the design is nothing earth-shocking, but again none of the source material of the old site was usable, I even rewrote most of the copy because it was so badly written.
The header image I got from iStockphoto, I don’t know why but it just “gave” me that sweaty, dance workshop feeling…
Most of the site (if not the entire site) validates (XHTML strict, CSS2), there’s just a little float bug to take care of in IE PC on the teachers page.
Given the budget (non-existent) and the source material (almost non-existent) it turned out pretty well, I guess.
Thanks Leslie for handing them a non-profit EE license!
