Should i or should i not?

Update from all Plesk Versions before ran perfectly but now its an PHP5 issue and a lot of other feature enhancements…
What probs about PHP5 can be when i update? Any exprerience or hints?!

I know a lot of older scripts have issues with PHP5.  That is the main reason I haven’t switched to it yet on my server.  There is some cool stuff in PHP5 as well though so its a tradeoff either way.

as far as I know, Plesk will downgrade PHP back to 4.3.4 when performing an update. Have you found a way to stop Plesk from doing so? (I’m looking for a solution to that problem myself - any hints welcome )
I have perfomed the Plesk 7.5.4 update myself yesterday on a 1und1 server running under SuSE 9.1 using the updater from the Plesk CP - no problems so far (in some forums, people report problems perfoming the update). What I like about the new version is the new watchdog module that monitors services like apache, mysql and so on and is able to send alerts as wel as try to restart dead services. The only small glitch so far is a mess for the german language files - for example the watchdog module does not seem to be translated right now (but I use the english interface by default and don’t have users that depend on the german translation.)

Yep you are right. Plesk is downgrading to PHP 4.3.4 and i dont know how to stop Plesk from doing that.
I performed the update last saturday without big problems. Just the little thing about the christmas-template stopped the updater. Not a big deal at all.
I really love the Watchdog its a really big help for me. Also the much faster Plesk Interface is great.

Iam running the same Box 1und1 and Suse 9.1..
