But these upgrade instructions are overly broad. It would be useful to have a list of the files that really need to be updated.

Assuming you have fresh local copies of EE (eg 1.3 vs 1.3.1), you can just cross check the modification dates on the files, I think?

When I download newer versions, I change the directory name to match the current date.

When I grab the next file, I know roughly which files need to be replaced because I can sort the directory structure in WinZip.

So today’s updates as well as the ones since 7/29 are included in the screen shot.

I could elect to just unzip those changed files and ftp those up.

Is this an error in the documentation when upgrading from 1.3 to 1.3.1:
“If You Have Customized Your Member Themes
You will need to manually add one new preference item to your profile area. Go to
Admin > Membership Preferences > Default > Edit Preferences”

My colegue and I manually updated this one (I guess my assumption is that this is the right one since it shows in under the Members Edit Preferences):
Admin ›  Member Profile Templates ›  Default ›  Edit Preferences

That’s not an error, no.. I’m confused why you think it is?

Maybe because the “Admin > Membership Preferences > Default > Edit Preferences” as specified in 1.3 to 1.3.1 upgrade doesn’t lead anywhere or at least not to the point where I can insert a few lines of text as specified.

I tried again today but “Admin ›  Membership Preferences” opens a form with checkboxes and other specs when “expand all” is used. There’s no “default” where I can select “edit preferences”.

That’s why I think that this one is right:
Admin ›  Member Profile Templates ›  Default ›  Edit Preferences

I’m maybe wrong , huh ...?

Yes, what you posted is right.  My apologies, I sometimes read too fast. Did you find the right place to put it? The template name should be edit_preferences I think. That’s just from memory.

No need to apologize .. it’s getting rather complex to find the right places, but the “expand all” thing is a great feature/help in the CP. Yeah, I found it last night. The thing basically adds “Accept Private Messages sent to you by other members of this site” to the member personal settings under edit preferences.

Thanks smile
