I am trying the {exp:forum} tag and was very excited with its functionality. That is of course until I clicked on any link in the Forum. Instead of taking the user to the thread the link it sends the user to the main EE page. I have narrowed down that it isn’t adding “forum” into the URL which would take them to the correct page.

To illustrate:

www.myurl.com/index/forum is the forum main page URL. When you click on a forum topic you are taken to www.myurl.com/index/viewforum/2/ which is invalid and tosses the user to the main blog page instead. But if you add “forum” into the URL like so: www.myurl.com/index/forum/viewforum/2/ you go to the right page.

I have tried changing the Forum URL in the general settings but it doesn’t seem to help.  How can I correct this?

We fixed a bug on one of the previous builds and it had the side effect you describe.  We’re about to release 1.3.1 which corrects this, but I’ll email you the fix in the mean time.

Ok, I have applied the patch as emailed to me and it did correct the error. However now when you try to view individual forums by clicking on their name on the main page you receive an error message contained in the template layout that reads:

“The following errors were encountered
You are not authorized to perform this action”

I am logged in as the superuser and have tried with both with Enable Forum on and off.

Also if you go directly to the threads, I’m clicking on the “latest post info” link, you go directly to the page as would be proper.

I am still having issues tied to this thread. I was asking about them in the Tech support section.  Please refer here for details.
