I have been testing using the moblog feature to make e-mail posts. It seems to work. Almost.

What happens is that I can receive/post the e-mails, but some aspects of the posts get formatted differently than those initiated through the control panel.

Here’s what happened:

I asked my test subject to simply send me a story in the text of an e-mail send to the moblog, and I am just treating the entire email as body text. (IOW, I’m not having them do any formatting within the email text.) Then, after I get it, I go in and filling in the other fields (such as a link I want to associate with the piece, caption info, etc.) when I edit the piece in the Control Panel.

BUT, the info I edit this way does not get formatting properly. Specifically, there are problems in formatting of the photo caption and date/time of posting, as well as the link to an offsite URL at the end of the story (all of which I added in EE using the Edit feature after receiving the e-mail).

I have left the bad post on my site so you can see what is happening.

The post is the top story —titled “Researchers return to mysterious icy gyre”—at http://www.alaskascienceoutreach.com. Note that the last couple of lines (Chris Linder and date/time posted) should be in smaller typeface, as with the two stories beneath it.

In the coding, it looks as though an extra line break is being inserted for some reason.

(See http://www.alaskascienceoutreach.com/index.php/science_seen/item/beaufort_gyre_exploration_project_set_to_get_underway/)

I tested this further by posting another message entirely from within the control panel, and the problems did not recur. It only happens to the moblogged entry.

Suggestions? I’m on v 1.2.1

FYI, -S.

PS - I just realized I had been posting this problem in the wrong forum; a thousand pardons… I trust the post has now found an appropriate home.

Well, I just replied to your other post since I came across it before this one…
