I’m having a problem using File Upload to upload images. I browse to the desired image in the File Upload popup window, click Upload, and I get this error message:

“Error
A problem was encountered while attempting to upload your file”

I’ve never encountered this problem before; have been able to upload and embed images with no problems until now. I can’t figure out any explanation for this, there’s no reason I can see that this error should occur.

FYI, this is a version 1.1 installation [Build:  20040818]. Could this be some kind of bug in my version of EE? I haven’t updated to a more recent version because we’re using a custom module, and I haven’t got around to figuring out if updating the EE version will cause problems with the custom module. [Are there any special steps that need to be taken when you have a custom module in the mix?]

Any help is much appreciated,

steve

Is this a reproducable error? Does it happen with all files you try to upload? Given the vague text of the error message, this could be anything from missing permissions (you change anything?) to insufficient disk space, or .... If it’s worked before, it’s unlikely to be a bug in EE.

Everything will be good in the end. If it’s not good, it’s not the end.

Hmmm… Yes, the permissions were set to 755 on the uploads directory, for some reason. Very curious, as file upload worked before and I hadn’t changed permissions on this directory. At least one other person on the site owner’s side does have access, so maybe they changed it.

Anyway, that fixed the problem. Thanks for your help, LisaJill.
