Hello,

I’ve read the document http://expressionengine.com/docs/install_subdomains.html regarding multiple domains, but don’t see anything about administering multiple domains once configured.

My question:
Is it possible to have essentially a master domain, ex. admin.domain.com where I log into EE, and from within it’s GUI select other domains to admin?

For example, I have three admin.domain.com, site1.domain.com, site2.domain.com. I want to log into admin.domain.com, be greeted with a switch of some sort (in the form of a drop down perhaps?) ‘which site do you want to work on’, select site1.domain.com from the menu and then proceed to write articles, modify templates, etc. Changing to the next site to admin (ex. site2.domain.com) would be a matter of selecting it from a menu and now I’m affecting its environment, content, and configuration, so forth and so on.

I’d prefer not to have to log in to site1.domain.com/system to work on it, then log in to site2.domain.com/system in order to maintain seperate sites.

Thank you in advance.

You have a single control panel that works with all three domains. What I’ve done is create new tabs for the domain I’ll be working with. For instance, I have a domain called shecodes.com and sheblogs.com. shecodes.com is the master domain. My template group for shecodes.com is weblog, and the one for sheblogs.com is sheblogs.

I can log into the control panel using either domain name. I have a copy of admin.php in both domains so I can log into the site using sitename.com/admin.php.

While you designate a primary template group for each domain, you can have additional template groups that work with either domain. Sounds confusing, but once you get the hang of it, it works ok.

Sue,

Thank you for your fast response. I’ll take a look at what you suggest.

One thing I love about EE is the lightening quick replies for help.

Cheers.
