I’ve noticed that the spell checker function brings back odd results with certain letter combinations.  For instance, on our media review site spell checker returns a mispell indicator for any word that starts with ‘fi’.  The whole word isn’t underlined, just ‘fi’.  So film, firm, fire, etc. etc. all have underlines under ‘fi’.  That’s kinda wierd and a little annoying.

Secondly, is there a way to add words to the checker’s dictionary so that it’ll ignore them in further scans?

The spellchecker just accesses pspell, an underlying library that contains the dictionary, so you can’t modify the dictionary.  Well maybe if you aren’t on shared hosting you could, I’m not sure….
